Esther’s Eden

Come Learn and Grow

About

I’m a North Idaho farm mama through and through. I grew up in a small town, with room to run and plenty of time to explore. I’ve been in the garden as long as I can remember. From those early days of slipping my toes under the sun warmed soil to now when I steal away every chance I get to be in the garden or the wilderness. I’m affectionately called the Crazy Plant Lady by both family and friends. My love of plants jumped to the next level when I took Dr. Christopher's School of Natural Healing courses and became an herbalist. Now it is my passion to share my garden, my knowledge and living food with as many people as I can. I'm a mom of 3 amazing children who are homeschooled and love our farm as much as I do. I live my life in close connection with God and his light. It is my goal to have all the plants...and the animals too ...because well, the plants need the compost. I am the creator of Esther's Eden blog, Youtube channel and line of herbal products.

The best food in the world grows in your own back yard.

Esthers Eden History

Originally named The Munroe Stump Farm when Mr. P Munroe purchased the raw land in the late 70s. Armed with hand tools and a few rough plans Mr. Munroe and his family cut timbers from the land, scraped the bark and built the log cabin that is still on the property today. The family joke was that no one could grow anything but stumps on this farm.

Esther Munroe purchased the property from the family a few decades later, moved in, and got to work. She has been busy transforming the property from a pine tree forest into an abundant permaculture style farm. Heritage and Legacy are important to her. She find it an honor and pleasure to farm and write her own story upon the land.

Mission

When I first began gardening as an adult I rode my bike across town to a friends property. It was there in that 3,000 sq ft plot I learned about pests, weeds and how to predict how much time I had left to garden before a storm would blow in and I'd get rained out. I learned from an old timer who's nick name was “Moose” about a little thing called Leave-a-right.... I had spent ages picking rocks outta the old plot and one day Moose walked up to the fence, watched me work for a while and then said, “you know that's called leave-a-right don’t you?”

“what are you talking about?” I huffed back

“That's called leave-a-right....means leave it right there.” He replied as he shook his head and walked back to his well maintained garden.

There were many lesson from Moose. It was there that God began to speak to me about my life. My purpose. He began to teach me lessons through the garden. It was there in that garden that my spirit came to life. It was at that time that my garden became known as Esther's Eden. Since then Esther's Eden has traveled to many locations throughout North Idaho...there was even a time where the whole garden was just some pots on a patio. In 2015 Esther’s Eden found its permanent home near Athol, ID. Esther's Eden is not just for our family. It is a place of rest and contentment. It is a place where the atmosphere is thin, healing can take place, the internet is spotty and cell service is like that old commercial, “can you hear me now?”. It is a place for rest and beauty that anyone can enjoy. We do gardening a little differently than most. Failure is encouraged that we might be able to teach better. Our methods include Back To Eden, No dig, permaculture, food forest and forest gardening. We will also be implementing Joel Salatin’s methods of daily moves for our animals throughout the warm months and deep bedding in the winter months. We believe the best tasting food starts with happy animals – all the way down to the bugs in the soil. The most healing Medicine comes from loving hands and the living earth.
